Reverend Kevin Dwayne Sanders, Senior Pastor
Pastor Kevin Dwayne Sanders, a native of Galveston, Texas and the founder and senior pastor of New Directions Missionary Baptist Church, located in Hitchcock, Texas. He answered the call of God to preach the gospel on January 24, 2001, while at Barbours Chapel Baptist Church of Texas City, Texas.
In the year 2010, God visited Pastor Sanders to start New Directions Missionary Baptist Church. On Pastor Sanders and Lady Sanders 19th year wedding anniversary, February 14, 2010, five individuals were invited to their home in Texas City to discuss the forming of a church. From its initial membership of seven, New Directions Missionary Baptist Church is growing into a thriving congregation. The vision God gave him was to “Lead Lost Souls to Christ.”
Pastor Sanders academics journey includes studies at Prairie View A&M, College of the Mainland and religious studies at College of Biblical Studies in Houston, Texas. He was a faithful member of Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church in Texas City, Texas for over 20+ years. He served as an Associate Minister for nine years; and was subsequently asked to help organized and serve as the first Director of the Young Adult Ministry known as Y.A.M.
Pastor Sanders’ philosophy of ministry is to preach and teach in season and out of season to all who are Lost, and to energize the Saved to continue to worship God in Spirit and in Truth and to share the Good News that Christ is Mighty to Save. Pastor Sanders is a compassionate family man of integrity and honesty. He is very strong in the faith with a strong Bible knowledge of the scriptures and full of the Holy Spirit. His main gifts are expository preaching, teaching, counseling, and in the past directing the youth of the community to Christ through basketball and baseball athletics.
Pastor Sanders is a devoted husband of 33+ years of marriage to First Lady Connie Sanders. They have four children, Charmaine, Kevin and daughter-in-law (Kelsia), Brandon and daughter-in-law (Kelsey) and Kameron. They are also the proud grandparents of two, a grandson, CaBrion and a granddaughter, Berkeley.
