Ministries Overview
New Directions Missionary Baptist Church offers our members many opportunities to serve the Lord and to utilize their spiritual gifts. Below you will find a listing of some of our ministries:
- Youth and Children's Ministries
These ministries are led by youth workers.
- Christian Education Ministries
This ministry promotes the learning among God's people. Everyone who does not have a relationship with Jesus Christ should have an opportunity to hear the Word, study the Word, and receive an invitation to know Christ.
Family Bible Study (FBS) - The Power Source
This ministry is the root and foundation of the Great Commission. It is a viable extension of the church toward the implementation of its mission statement. It also assists in the continual developing of strong leadership through biblical studies and sound doctrine, enhancing the ability to facilitate in ministry areas with confidence and assurance.
Sunday School
This ministry can touch the lives of everyone in the congregation - from the very young to the very old. Sunday School is a place where people can be transformed into leaders, increased one’s sense of belonging and commitment to stewardship; learn to grow as disciples and deepening people’s understanding of God’s activity in all of life.
New Member Orientation
This ministry involves a 4 week course taught to New Members who unite with the Church, to keep them connected.
- Kailynn Boclair Educational Fund and Scholarship Ministry
This ministry was established to prepare youth to become Christian stewards and to provide assistance academically and financially to them while pursuing a career. This ministry is overseen by the Educational Fund Committee.
- Christian Development Ministries
This ministry seeks to help believers to become a full mature Christian by teaching them to think and act accordingly to God's will.
Men Ministry - MGM (Mighty Godly Men)
This ministry is a discipleship program for the development of Christian men for leadership. This ministry will empower men to stand in the gap and bond together as brothers through Bible lessons, monthly power breakfast, Sunday school, male chorus, workshops, men retreats, assisting with the evangelizing team to search for lost men in the community, workplaces and homes and to educate the men on their proper place in the church and head of their homes. It is open to all men 18 and above.
Women Ministry - N.E.W. (Network Of Encouraging Women)
This ministry is to encourage all women to live victorious lives and to rely on each other for support and God for guidance. This ministry will be realized through Bible lessons, mission services, workshops, women retreats and other activities. It is open to all women 18 and above.
Marriage Ministry
Designed to enrich the lives of married couples and those engaged to be married. This ministry will host workshops, retreats, conferences and cruises designed to equip and enrich the lives of families.
Teen Girls Ministry
This ministry is a group of teenage girls seeking to know God more and live in his ways. This ministry will be realized through Bible lessons, and various other social and spiritual activities. It is open to all teen girls 13 to 17 years old. It is founded off of the scripture Psalms 139:14 - "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."
- Young Adult Ministry/Book Club
This ministry is committed to equipping men and women between the ages of 18-35 to fulfill the mission by leading, witnessing, believing, giving, assimilating and proclaiming. This ministry will be realized through empowering bible studies, community outreach, powerful workshops, life-changing retreats, and fellowship and fun. This ministry meets once a month. The ministry is led by Charmaine Sanders, President.
- Young Boy's Ministry (Boys to Men)
Boys to Men Ministry is designed to equip teens with the knowledge and experience of biblical, social, and life skills necessary to become model Christian Adults of tomorrow. The age limit is 10 and older. This will be realized by way of preaching and teaching of God's word. This group believes there is no limit what God can do in their life.
- Friday Night Live
This ministry is designed for high school teens to
create some fun and safe outings with their friends on Friday Nights. Our desire is that the
Gospel and the truth about Christ is clearly presented inside and outside the church.
- Music and Worship Ministry
This ministry is to share the word of God through impacting messages presented in music and dance to reach the hearts of people. This ministry is led by Minister J. Bass, Director and Organist; Minister Beyoncé –
Percussionist and Harold Love – Guitar.

- Sanctuary Choir
This ministry is designed primarily for members interested in joining the Choir. This choir provides music on the 1st and 3rd Sunday's.
Youth Choir
This ministry is designed primarily for members interested in joining the Youth Choir. This choir provides music on the 2nd Sunday of each month.
- Men's Choir
This ministry is designed primarily for members interested in joining the Men’s Choir. This choir provides music on the 4th Sunday of each month.
Women's Choir
This ministry is designed primarily for members interested in joining the Women Choir. This choir provides music on 5th Sunday’s.
Step Team Ministry (God Fearing Steppers)
This ministry promotes an alternative method to the traditional ways of praising God through "Stepping." It is led by Grayland Barrett and Brandon Sanders.
Praise Dance
The youth praise team, "God's Precious Angels", presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ through dance on 2nd Sunday and other special events. The Adult praise, "Instruments of Praise", presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ through dance on 5th Sunday's and other special events.
- Outreach Ministries
This ministry reminds us that just being like Jesus is not enough, we have to tell the world about Jesus. This message is communicated through these various ministries.
Audio & Video Ministry
The Audio & Video Ministry produces CDs and DVD's of select church services. This ministry is led by Grayland Barrett.
Servant Evangelism (O.U.T.R.E.A.C.H) Ministry
This ministry leads outreach efforts to the un-churched through prayer, door to door visits, and other scheduled outreached events. This ministry also prepares welcome packets, mail-out correspondence letters, and host New Members Receptions Quarterly. This ministry partners with the Pastor to change the community and beyond. The team leaders are Patricia Johnson and Lois Guidry.

Web Ministry
This ministry was developed to extend ministerial efforts using the Internet.
- Hospitality Ministries
The ministries of hospitality serve the guests and our members by displaying the love of Christ in our church, fostering warmth, kindness, and an inclusive helpful spirit to all who enter through our doors. The Greeters and Ushers Ministries are led by Patricia Johnson, Director.
Greeters Ministry
This ministry is an encouragement Ministry. The purpose is to welcome everyone with a smile and pleasant disposition.
Ushers Ministry
This ministry helps to show care and comfort to our worshippers and guest. The president of this ministry is Lois Guidry.
Food Committee Ministry
This ministry is responsible for preparing and serving at all scheduled church and social events (such as Anniversaries, Annual Days, Christmas socials and other events as listed on the church calendar or requested by the Pastor).
Nurse's Aide
Care-giving minstry to ensure the well being and care of the congregation. Myra Tryal is the President of this ministry.
Shepherd's Ministry
This ministry is responsible for attending to the Pastor and his needs. Patricia Johnson is the President of this ministry.
- Pastoral Care (Benevolent) Ministry
Will provide encouragement, prayer, support, and telephone and/or mail contact to sick and shut-in members and hospital members; identify families in bereavement that need resolutions prepared.
